Hybrid Social Solutions (HSSi) is a social distribution company founded in June 2010 in the Philippines to empower rural communities through renewable energy sources, primarily solar energy. It envisions putting an end to poverty and spurring development and job creation by enabling all communities to access basic development-oriented goods and services. By converting households to solar power away from kerosene and diesel, it also achieves reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
To aid in achieving our mission, we have developed Solar Hubs that provide local support for our distribution partners and network partners, including community-based Solusyonistas and Accredited Technicians. After the success of our first two pilot Solar Hubs, we are in the process of planning additional Solar Hubs to expand our reach to more communities.
Based on mutual trust, the cooperation between HSSi and Gaia Impact Fund aims to enable rural communities to access solar solutions on a sustainable basis while creating local jobs and community development. In particular, the purpose of this agreement is to support HSSi’s plans to expand its network of Solar Hubs by financing the opening and development of two new Solar Hubs.
